Telecom Ramblings Industry Spotlight: Mox Networks’ Allen Meeks Looks Subsea

MOX Networks has expanded into subsea bandwidth by acquiring significant capacity on the Topaz transpacific and Firmina transatlantic cable systems to address both internal demand and external commercial opportunities.

CEO Allen Meeks spoke with Telecom Ramblings to explain that this move leverages MOX’s existing terrestrial fiber assets in North America and Japan and positions the company to serve customers with integrated end-to-end connectivity.

Demand for subsea capacity has grown as traditional subsea carriers have declined participation, creating opportunities for nimble, privately owned infrastructure providers like MOX that can tailor offerings for hyperscalers and cloud operators.

The company is also exploring further subsea and terrestrial expansion, driven by rapid capacity needs from AI-related traffic and global connectivity requirements.
